Description of Medical Evacuation


Terms of Medical Evacuation Services

  • Medical Repatriation and Evacuation
    Pay for emergency evacuation services to prepare adequate transportation/other methods to bring the Insured to the nearest medical facility and also the costs of transportation for the Insured back to the place of residence if the condition has stabilized based on the doctor's statement.
  • Delivery of Emergency Medicine/Medical Equipment
    Sending essential medicines/medical equipment to the clinic or hospital where the Insured is receiving treatment, if essential medicines as suggested by a doctor are not available at the clinic or hospital.
  • Dispatch of Medical Personnel
    If the doctor at the hospital where the insured is being treated cannot assess the medical condition of the insured for evacuation purposes, BDA will send adequate medical personnel.
  • Repatriation of the Corpses
    If the insured dies due to an accident or illness, BDA will arrange and pay for the cost of returning the body of the insured to his place of residence.
  • 24 Hour Tele-Medical Referral, Evaluation and Consultation
    BDA provides access to medical personnel for referral or evaluation by means of tele-medical consultations 24 hours non-stop to qualified or specialist doctors.
  • Hospital Admission Assistance*
    Assist in coordinating the Insured for health insurance validation or other means of payment (eg family) and for emergency cases. Also provide the required temporary upfront coverage for the Insured to the Hospital up to USD 2,500.
  • Emergency Personal Fund*
    BDA can provide an advance of up to USD 250 according to the local exchange rate, to the Insured for emergency medical expenses outside Indonesia.
  • Monitoring of Medical Conditions
    Doctor Partner Company (from BDA) will monitor the condition of the Insured Together with the doctor treating the Insured as long as medically necessary.
  • Transportation for Accompanying Patients
    BDA will pay travel expenses for economy class members of the Insured's family to visit the Insured while being treated at the Hospital provided that the Insured travels alone and is hospitalized for more than 7 days. Also reimburses expenses for accommodation for family members during the companion's period up to USD 50 per day for a maximum of 7 days.
  • Protection/Transportation of Minors
    BDA will provide one-way economy class tickets for children under the age of 18 who are left unattended due to illness or accident.
  • Return of Traveling Companions
    BDA will provide a one-way economy ticket for a traveling companion of the Insured back to the departure point if the Insured is admitted to Hospital and evacuated, provided that the existing ticket is no longer valid. If the ticket is still valid, then BDA will only pay administrative fees charged for changing the itinerary.
  • Health Recovery Costs After Sickness
    Reimbursement of up to USD 1,000 for the Insured's medical recovery costs on a reimbursement basis. Valid within 30 days from the date of evacuation/repatriation of the Insured.
  • Submission of Emergency Messages
    BDA will help receive and send messages to and from the residence for the Insured, if the Insured suffers from illness or accident.
  • Lawyers and Translators Referrals BDA provides contact details of lawyers/translators.
  • Pre-travel Information and Other Public Services
    Prior to departure, the Insured may contact BDA to obtain information such as travel restrictions, contact details, embassy addresses, consular offices, exchange rates, vaccine requirements, visa arrangement procedures, IDD codes and other relevant information.
  • Lost Baggage and Documents
    BDA will assist in tracking and retrieving and arranging for the delivery of the Insured's lost luggage or documents due to the negligence of the authorities.
  • Claim Service
    BDA will help coordinate with the Insured's insurance for the claim process.
  • Return to Work
    BDA will pay for 1 economy class ticket for the Insured to return to work within 30 days after evacuation, if the Insured has recovered from the accident or illness and is fit to return to work.
  • Arrangements for Family Travel in an Emergency
    BDA will help coordinate travel tickets and accommodation for the Insured's family members to accompany the Insured who is being treated at the Hospital.
  • Repatriation due to Emergency Situation of Family Members
    BDA will help arrange and pay for 1 economy ticket for the return of the Insured to his country of residence, if a member of the main family or biological parents of the Insured has an accident or illness.

Medical Evacuation Service Exceptions

BDA will not provide medical evacuation services, if:

  1. The Insured or Participant travels with the aim of getting medical treatment.
  2. The injury suffered by the Insured was caused by the Insured's participation in the war.
  3. Injuries suffered by the Insured as a result of participating in criminal or unlawful acts such as taking illegal drugs or as a result of attempted suicide.
  4. The insured is transferred from one medical facility to another.

 

BDA will not evacuate or repatriate the Insured, if:

  1. The Insured does not have medical authorization from the treating doctor and/or partner company doctor.
  2. Experiencing minor injuries or common injuries such as sprains, common fractures or minor ailments that can be treated by a local doctor and does not prevent the Insured from continuing his journey or returning home.
  3. The insured suffers from mental or nervous disorders unless he is hospitalized.
